ASI is pleased to announce this year's recipient of the

Bradford Rominger Agricultural Sustainability Leadership Award, Dr. Kenneth Tate

Ken Tate is a Cooperative Extension Specialist in the Department of Plant Sciences. He runs the California Rangeland Watershed Laboratory, which focuses on the diverse ecosystems that comprise California rangelands.

“We study and promote management to support the multitude of services that rangelands provide to society and believe that the application of sound science, adaptive range management, and excellent stewardship enhances water quality, soil quality, stream and floodplain function, aquatic and terrestrial habitat, native plant and wildlife species, and agricultural productivity,” said Dr. Tate.

Dr. Tate has developed numerous partnerships with UC Cooperative Extension advisors, ranchers, rangeland managers, other research laboratories and organizations focusing on natural resources conservation, management and regulation. His research and extension program has been exemplary in evaluating scientific information relevant to important issues, contributing new scientific knowledge, extending information to diverse stakeholders, and supplying tools and knowledge to implement on-the-ground solutions.

The impact of his research and service activities on rangeland management and the leadership role he has played in communicating the results to stakeholders and the public are recognized at the state, national and international levels.
